In 1998 Lars Krückeberg, Wolfram Putz and Thomas Willemeit founded the architecturallabel GRAFT in Los Angeles for city planning, design, music and ‘the pursuitof happiness’, which has been under the direction of Alejandra Lillo since 2007. The second office in Berlin was opened In 2001 and a further project in 2004 with founding partners Gergor Hoheisel in Peking. Meanwhile GRAFT employs roundabout 75 worldwide. With respect to the formal experimental architectural scene, GRAFT belongs to those internationally renowned avant-garde playing with enhanced and amorphorous vocabulary of shapes, and coming to grips with new possibilities for parameters of volume and space. Just the same, this excludes the concurrence of various more formal attitudes of joining principles, the hybridisation and a method of drafting in the team, such as the cultural candidness of an office, since nowadays a multitude of different firms work and develop on three continents.
