Ettore Sottsass

1917            born in Innsbruck, Austria

1929            moved to Turin with his parents

1939            graduated in architecture at the Turin Politechnic

1946            he moves to Milan

1947            opened his own studio in milan

1956            he worked in New York with George Nelson

1957            he became artistic director at Poltronova

1958 - 1980  worked as a design consultant for Olivetti

1972            foundet ”Global Tools“ with Andrea Branzi, Gaetano Pesce,
                   Alessandro Mendini, ... (Archizoom and Superstudio)

1976            established along with Alessandro Mendini, Andrea Branzi,
                   Michele De Lucchi and others Studio Alchimia

1981            togheter with Michele De Lucchi, Marco Zanini, Barbara Radice,
                   Aldo Cibic and Matteo Thun he foundet the Memphis group

1985            he designed a chain of shops for Esprit

2000            the Sottsass Associati designed the new Miln airport,
                   Malpensa 2000
